Although Apple, Microsoft, and Google top the global chart of the most valuable brands, Amazon beats all three tech giants when it comes to brand value growth. According to data presented by Stocklytics.com, Amazon’s brand value skyrocketed by almost 800% in the past decade, 200% more than Apple’s brand value growth and 400% more than Google’s.
Amazon’s Brand Value Increased by an Average of $51 Billion per Year
Amazon’s extensive product range, customer-centric approach, and excellent delivery network have made it the go-to platform for online shopping in the United States and worldwide with the ecommerce giant significantly outpacing most other competitors. Today, Amazon’s platform counts over 310 million active users, and its revenue and brand value have skyrocketed.
Since 2014, Amazon’s revenue surged by almost 630%, reaching $514 billion in 2023. However, its brand value saw even bigger growth in this period. One of Amazon’s brand’s key growth drivers is its continued diversification of revenue streams. Besides selling millions of products via its online platform, Amazon also moved beyond retail by launching the cloud platform Amazon Web Services (AWS), selling ad space, and extending its Prime subscription features.
According to Kantar and Marketing Charts data, Amazon’s global brand value has been increasing by an average of $51 billion per year over the past decade and hit $577 billion in 2024. This value placed the ecommerce giant fourth among the leading brands worldwide, following Apple, Microsoft, and Google.
Although the three tech giants have much higher brand values, statistics show Amazon beats them all in brand value growth. In comparison, Apple’s brand value increased by 591% in the past decade, 200% less than Amazon’s, and hit over one billion dollars this year. Google also saw much smaller 10-year growth, with its brand value increasing by 374% to $753 billion in 2024. Statistics show that the tech giant Microsoft is the only one close to Amazon, with a 690% growth in brand value in a decade. In 2024, Microsoft’s brand value hit $712.9 billion, up from roughly $90 billion ten years ago.
Amazon is Worth 3x more than the Next Five Largest Ecommerce Brands Combined
Amazon’s brand value is a clear indicator of its lead over other players in the ecommerce landscape. With a brand value of $ 577 billion, Amazon is now worth three times more than the next five largest ecommerce giants combined.
Alibaba’s brand value hit $135 billion this year, or four times less than Amazon’s. Statistics show JD.com stands in high third place, with a valuation of $25.5 billion in 2024, or 22 times less than the US ecommerce giant. Pinduoduo, eBay, and Rakuten follow, with $20.3 billion, $12.7 billion, and $4.3 billion, respectively.
