Chrome beats Safari in the latest analysis, securing over two-thirds of global market shares. According to Stocklytics.com, Chrome’s usage has risen by an impressive 13%, while Safari’s declined by a notable 10% in a year’s time, as of this May, indicating Chrome’s significant gains over Safari.

The site’s financial analyst, Edith Reads, comments:

Chrome’s easy-to-use layout and frequent updates make it a popular option for users worldwide. Its ability to sync bookmarks, history, and preferences across devices allows users to enjoy a hassle-free browsing experience.

Safari Vs Chrome

Safari seamlessly integrates with Apple devices, ensuring smooth synchronization with iOS and macOS, but it remains compatible only within the Apple ecosystem. In contrast, Chrome operates across a broad range of systems, including Android, Windows, macOS, and iOS, attracting a much larger user base due to its platform versatility.

Chrome’s proliferation may also be partly due to its richer ecosystem of add-ons and extensions, an area where Safari falls short.

Chrome’s integration with Google services like Gmail, Google Drive, and Google Docs makes it a popular choice among users. Additionally, the Chromium project, which serves as the basis for Chrome, is utilized by browsers such as Microsoft Edge, Opera, and Brave, adding to its recognition and attractiveness.

Global Browser Market Share

Chrome and Safari’s cumulative shares are close to 90%, meaning that more than four in five internet users worldwide use either of the two as their default browsers.

Chrome is the leading global browser, commanding an impressive 65.1% market share. The United States, in particular, is a stronghold for Chrome, where it holds a substantial 52% market hold. Safari trails behind with a 32% market presence thanks to the popularity of Apple devices in the country. However, its global reach is more limited, accounting for only 18.17% of the worldwide browser market, second to Chrome’s overwhelming lead.

Microsoft Edge and Mozilla’s Firefox rank as the next two most widely used web browsers, commanding 5.21% and 2.82% of the global market share, respectively. Samsung Internet and Opera round out the top six, holding 2.66% and 2.54% market share, respectively.

When it comes to browser usage across different devices, Google Chrome maintains a dominant position on desktop computers, claiming a 64.88% market share. It is trailed by Microsoft Edge at 13.13% and Safari at 8.8%. In the mobile browser market, Chrome still takes the lead with an impressive 65.9% market share, while Safari follows with 23.5%

While Chrome still reigns supreme as the leading desktop and mobile browser, its advantage has narrowed considerably among tablet users. At 47.09%, its market share is only marginally higher than that of Safari, which captures 35.95% of the tablet browser market.
