The United States hosts the majority of these patents, reflecting the company’s focus on its largest market. Following the US, Canada and Europe also boast notable numbers of Capital One’s patent filings, aligning with the company’s strategic interests and market presence.

Other American Big banks have also accelerated the pace of patents filed for AI and AI-related innovations. Bank of America follows Capital One with 640 applications and JPMorgan Chase with 274 applications in the US.

Capital One and Bank of America were responsible for over 60% of all AI patents filed by the 50 banks in the US.

North American banks dominate innovation, with JPMorgan and RBC leading in research while Capital One and Bank of America lead in patents. Additionally, DBS takes the top spot in AI leadership.
