The rise of artificial intelligence and its impact on the job market caused global concerns, with some predicting that up to 85 million jobs would be replaced with automation and AI. However, AI cannot replace some occupations, and the latest data from the US labor market proves this.

According to data presented by Stocklytics.com, home health and personal care aides are expected to be the fastest-growing occupation in the United States, with more than 800,00 new jobs by 2032.

Home Health and Personal Care Aides to Bring Twice as Many New Jobs as Software Developers

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics’ Occupational Employment Projections, the healthcare and social assistance sector, driven less by technological changes and more by demographic shifts, will see the biggest increase in employment in the next decade. Due to the aging population and the growing number of chronic conditions, this sector is projected to account for 2.1 million new jobs by 2032, or almost half of all new jobs expected in the United States.

Looking at individual occupations, home health, and personal care aids are expected to be by far the fastest-growing occupations of the decade, adding more than 800,000 jobs by 2032. Registered nurses and medical and health service managers will add 177,400 and 144,700 new jobs, respectively, proving the health sector as a major driver of employment growth in the future.

These figures are even more interesting compared to other sectors. For example, statistics show that home health and personal care aides will create twice as many new jobs as software developers and almost three times more than restaurant cooks, who are expected to add 410,400 and 277,600 new workplaces in the following years, respectively. Stockers and order fillers will see the fourth largest employment change, with 178,600 new jobs in this period.

Transportation and Warehousing is Also Among the Fastest-Growing Sectors

Although the rise of ecommerce led to a decline in retail jobs and caused concerns at the time, it also supported strong job growth in transportation and warehousing, which has continued ever since.

The U.S. Bureau of Labor data show transportation and warehousing is also among the fastest-growing sectors in this decade, with its wage and salary employment expected to grow by 8.6% by 2032. Besides stock and order fillers as the most in-demand job in this sector, hand laborers and light truck drivers will also bring hundreds of thousands of new jobs to the US market.

Statistics show that hand laborers and freight, stock, and material movers will add 158,800 new jobs by the end of 2032, ranking as the sixth most in-demand occupation in the United States. Light truck drivers follow with 133,800 new jobs respectively.
