Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) kicked off its annual Xbox Games Showcase on Sunday, unveiling new all-digital versions of its Xbox Series X and S consoles alongside trailers for over a dozen games.

With the launch of titles like Avowed, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle™, and Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II for Xbox Series X|S and PC, this year will be an excellent time to upgrade your console or join the Xbox community.

Microsoft Hardware Updates

Microsoft introduced three new gaming consoles: a disc-less version of the Xbox Series X and S and a special edition of the Series X featuring two terabytes of storage. This hardware update aims to boost Xbox console sales, positioning them against Sony (NYSE: SONY)’s PlayStation 5.

Firstly, the Xbox Series S Robot White features the sleek, modern, and compact design of the Xbox Series S. This console now includes a 1TB SSD, doubling the storage capacity so players can store more of their favorite games. It also boasts a Quick Resume, lightning-fast load times, and up to 120 FPS gameplay. It is available in select markets for $349.99/€349.99 ERP.

Moreover, the Xbox Series X Robot White Digital Edition is an all-digital console that comes with a 1TB SSD, offering the speed and performance of the Xbox Series X for $449.99/€499.99 ERP. It supports up to 4K resolution and brings popular franchises like Call of Duty, Halo, Forza, and Diablo to life with stunning visuals and immersive worlds. Available in select markets.

Xbox Game Pass Strategy

Highlighted games included “Doom: The Dark Ages,” the newest entry in the iconic “Doom” franchise, and a sneak peek at the latest “Gears of War” title, thus ending a five-year wait for fans. Additionally, several games, including the new “Doom” and “Call of Duty,” will be available on Xbox Game Pass at launch, thereby reflecting Microsoft’s strategy to enhance its subscription service amid a challenging economic climate.

Activision Blizzard Feature

Following the main event, a unique feature from Activision Blizzard (NASDAQ: ATVI)’s studios showcased “Call of Duty: Black Ops 6,” set for release in October. Developers Treyarch and Raven (NASDAQ: RAVN) Software presented clips from the campaign set in the early 1990s, highlighting new features like a multi-directional sprint system and a preview of the beloved “Zombies” mode.
