Remini Surpasses ChatGPT: Most Downloaded AI App with 10M+ Lead

Remini, the AI photo enhancer that went viral in 2023 after showcasing its ability to generate real-like children photos for different couples, beats ChatGPT in the latest download count. According to Stocklytics.com, Remini is now the most downloaded AI app, overstepping ChatGPT with a 10 million gap. 

Remini’s cumulative download tally stands at 219 million, highlighting the high receptive rate for its features.

The site’s financial analyst, Edith Reads, comments, “Remini’s dominance in downloads signifies a shift in user priorities and preferences in the AI app market. While conversational AI like ChatGPT remains crucial for many applications, there is a clear demand for highly specialized AI tools that offer tangible improvements to everyday digital tasks. “

Remini Receptive Rate

Remini’s ability to unblur old photos has attracted significant portions of the Chinese audience, eager to transform their portraits into clay sculpture-like images. From April 30 to May 6, 2024, Remini topped the download charts in China, surpassing Douyin Lite and Douyin, TikTok’s sister platforms.

In July 2023, the photo editing app also achieved an impressive 4.5 million downloads in the U.S., ahead of Canva, which only received roughly 940,000 new downloads. On July 11 of the same year, Remini was leading app rankings on both Google Play and the Apple App Store, surpassing Instagram Threads shortly after its launch. 

Remini also received an impressive 4.6-star rating on the US app store based on over 124,000 reviews by July’s end, highlighting its positive effect on US users. 

Is ChatGPT Losing Market Hold To Remini?

While ChatGPT has a significant following for its image generation capabilities via DALL-E, Remini stands out as the leading app for image enhancement. However, despite its limitations in image generation, ChatGPT remains the global leader among chatbots, having built trust and confidence in its ability to provide accurate answers and assist in brainstorming. 

Its lower download count doesn’t necessarily translate into the app losing its ground as it has over 200 million monthly active users worldwide.

Remini’s Issues

The app’s ability to reinvigorate old photos by improving photos’ colors, tones, and backgrounds and incorporating various filters, including popular Barbie filters, has been highly acclaimed, with several users pleased with their headshots.

However, some users expressed dissatisfaction with their body shots, noting that the app made unwanted adjustments to their figures. For example, some women reported that the app made them appear significantly slimmer, while others noticed enhancements to their breasts or cleavage. 

Remini’s management has tried to address these concerns directly. They apologized to users who felt offended and encouraged them to upload different selfies or experiment with various reference images from their galleries as they refined their technology.
